"The only power I have is that I can make a mean sandwich."
"That's a domestic skill you'll have to have regardless. You'll make someone a great housewife, Nico."Okay, so basically, I've started writing a novel (my third attempt, really, but the first one was a flop like years ago and the second one I wrote in my novel writing course my senior year of high school, but I still have all the materials from it and might continue writing it at some point). ANYWAY.
This time around, the story's throwing my OCs from the recent House of Anubis fanfictions I've been working on and placing them in a "normal world" outside the Anubis one, but most of the characters are born with these superhuman powers. Giana De Luca, our main protagonist, is born with limited vision, but in-turn she has hypersensitive hearing, for example.
She goes off to Upton Towers Preparatory School, a prestigious boarding school in England. There, she gets placed into Aldworth House, a boarding house instead of a dorm (and no, this story isn’t a rip-off of House of Anubis, though it did slightly inspire me to write it in a way). While attending Upton Towers, Giana finds out that there are more people in the world like her - people with powers. Another example is one of her housemates, Aiden West. Aiden can morph into anyone he pleases, after taking a quick mental picture of them and focusing his energy on becoming them. He can even pitch his voice to perfectly mimic the person he’s copying, and is often covering for his housemates when they’re wandering around outside after curfew or something.
While Giana’s not the only one with superhuman abilities back in her hometown, the students at Upton Towers are the biggest collection of kids with supernatural powers she’s ever seen in her lifetime, and they even coexist with the “normal” kids perfectly… almost as if everything’s too perfect.
Aldworth’s housemaster, Ebenezer Bristow (they nickname him Scrooge) is on some evil rampage to harness his residents’ powers, because the abilities skipped him when he was born and got passed to his siblings. He’s had to grow up jealous of his siblings and cousins because they were all “superior” to him and he basically felt like an outsider.
So, other than him devising some weird plan to do that, and some rebellion from the normal kids at Upton, that’s basically all I have for a summary - partially because I don’t want to spoil too much, and partially because I have no idea of the rest of it myself.
Anyway, I'm really enjoying crafting this world of characters and settings and just word-vomiting all over the place. I’m hoping to turn this into a series, and maybe to at least finish the first book by the time I graduate college (if not before that). I really want to get it published… I just hope I can.
Um, I should probably end here. I’m not good with this whole blogging thing because the only blog I know is Tumblr, and that’s just basically reposting stuff people already posted while coming up with semi-witty things of my own. So, whoever decided to actually read this, I bid you adieu.
Ciao for now!
